This is why the applications in most of the Southern schools skyrocketed this year. Parents don't want to pay for this crap and most kids know this is a charade.

Where are the upstanding vaccinated employees and students who will lead the protest against this madness?

Sadly, many people still believe mandated covid testing as a condition of employment or school attendance is ethical, necessary, or no big deal.

In some folks' minds, weekly testing is a just punishment/consequence for rejecting what they felt they had to do (regardless of reason).

Truly astounding.

It's a very passive form of opposition, but if the university requires only uploads of photos of at-home tests, a student could hold onto an old negative test and simply take different photos of that one test each week.

I’d have a hard time letting an unethical policy make a liar out of me.

If the tests are medically meaningless and a form of harassment, there is not an ethical problem. I would object to my DNA being collected weekly with no guarantee of privacy even if the test were meaningful.

100%!!! I have a daughter at UChicago and their Covid policies have been some of the most strict in the country. I’m waiting for UChicago to announce more of their unscientific policies for the fall. UChicago uses the UoI test so based on the last 2 substack articles I have a feeling testing is going to continue at UChicago too. My son only looked at southern schools because of his sister’s experience and picked Florida State. Florida State no longer requires testing, masks, quarantining or social distancing.

Update: UChicago just sent an email today requiring weekly testing for any student or employee who does not have 2 doses of a vaccine. The student no longer needs to apply for an exemption if they do not have 2 doses of a vaccine.

I don’t get the exemption part.

Last year, the student needed to have either a religious exemption or medical exemption to the vaccine mandate. If the student had either exemption, they were required to test weekly. When cases rose in January, they required testing of all students. For this upcoming year, unvaccinated students no longer have to apply for a religious or medical exemption. Any student who does not show proof of 2 doses must test.

Agreed but not just a charade but a new "religion".

Do we even know how much *weekly* testing would accomplish anyway? So you get sick on Monday and officially notice six days later, woo-hoo? (Which could also happen quite easily, perhaps just as easily, to someone who is vaccinated.)

You're assuming someone who tests positive is sick.

Weekly testing allowed the Universities with lab resources (including my employer, Arizona State) to bill the $2.2 trillion dollar CARES Act at practically any rate they pleased. More testing meant more revenue for the Universities that developed their own tests, with the added bonus of being able to tune their false positive rate to get the outcome they wanted to justify political positions.

COVID Testing is a scam, and always has been.

I asked them on linkedin why they're requiring vaccines that do not prevent infection. Waiting for my ban from linkedin.

Another example is the stupid cruise ship industry; “ everyone must be vaccinated” …. 6 months later still Covid outbreaks on ships, obviously from the vaccinated, next mandate… no more PCR testing on ships! These people are just complete idiots!

How many hospitalizations/covid deaths did any of these Universities see last year in their unvaccinated student population? Now flip the question, how many injuries due to the vaccination of these students? No way would I be letting my student attend. Foolishness to comply.

Since Karin Jean Pierre doesn’t think it’s necessary to know or contract trace joe Biden’s Covid infection, what is the university going to do if students DO NOT get tested… are they going to hound students and track them down? Seems a ridiculous endeavor by Illinois but nothing new with the COVIDIOTS in Illinois

The continued ignorance coming from academia just shocks me. The mere fact that Joe Biden survived COVID in his frail state should be the end of this medical emergency. The failure of the vaccines is obfuscated and denied by public officials which falls right in line with the letter from the University of Illinois. As long as they have someone else they can blame, they really don't care about what the truth is.

I honestly think that it's intent and not ignorance.

i had thought the experiment where we wait and watch and see if any of the vaccinated get infected or if they do not while unvaccinated still do get infected would play out and inform us moving forward but the experiment has been skewed with more shots as still working and perverted with redefining of words and moving of goal posts that i am afraid people will happily continue to be gamed

Will it be Shield T3 and it's U of I developed covidSHIELD testing performing on-going COVID testing for U of I?

Donald J. Edwards -- Chair of the U of I Board of Trustees. Does he have a hand in mandating testing?

Oh yeah, he's the Chair of Shield T3’s nine-member Board of Managers

The numbers will be interesting (assuming they release real numbers). Now that they are testing the “unvaccinated” will their numbers be what they are looking for? Seems that the “vaccinated” are more likely to get Covid these days.

why oh why are there people running these institutions that have not even bothered to look into this...so if they DO this, how about gathering data HERE! And expose that those who are not getting the shots are NOT getting covid. What a waste of time, $ and human resources.

This is a great way to ensure all future prospects know they are being asked to pay mid 6 figures for indoctrination, as their is no learning if anything else happening at these schools
