I agree that is basic human nature. I think it can also be a result of very strong group or tribal influence that is often dependent on political ideologies. The left tends to express their views in much stronger uncompromising ways often leading to anger and violence. Difficult to break from the tribal influence.
Absolutely true that the Left/Far Left (at least in the U.S., and esp in the past 10-15 years) has a more uniform, uncompromising agenda that demands/commands fealty. It's very"helpful" in mobilizing against and defeating opposition.
The right has more "variants", if you will, and by virtue of some of the values held, eschews uniformity & control, and may not define themselves first or foremost by their political views/affiliation.
In the COVID Era, we saw many people's sense of political identity disrupted. My observation was that those who came to call themselves "politically homeless" were Liberals/so-called "classical Liberals" who saw the left abandon children and become entrenched in Covidianism/mandates, BLM, transgenderism, etc.
Alex has done some good work, unfortunately it seems his Liberal DNA has inhibited him from realizing most of truth of the past ten years.
The tendency to sidestep the truth and engage in self-/narrative preservation is a human thing more than it is a function of political leanings. :)

Yes, fair points.

exactly why i don’t subscribe to his substack—limited or severely handicapped journalism — not to mention his demonizing of cannabis.
I oppose cannibis being legalized, do not commend its use, and have never used it myself, but I hope that doesn't mean you must unsubscribe! :)
Well that's a buzz kill, but given your work, i'll keep funding :)
Well, I appreciate the concession 😂
If it helps, I am not vice-free and can only ever be allowed to drink one Manhattan at a time!
I’m sure he’ll be posting his apology soon.
It's not even about him being wrong or me being right. (I'm not wrong in many specifics I said but could be wrong wrt my broader hypothesis.)
I am even okay with people being not their best selves on X and am hardly above reproach.
But the derisive name-calling and saying I make his job hard was truly bizarre!!
