It is noteworthy that when SIGA fired Varma yesterday, there was no press release, just a regulatory filing, and the entire content of the statement was this:
"On September 23, 2024, the Board of Directors of SIGA Technologies, Inc. (the “Company”) terminated Dr. Jay Varma, effective immediately, other than for cause, from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the Company. Pursuant to the terms of his employment agreement, Dr. Varma’s service on the Company’s Board of Directors also automatically ended effective immediately."
One of the messages from public health, certainly in liberal areas (and the Varma videos highlight this), is that deaths and disabilities caused by sexual acts and ingesting illegal drugs aren't seen as moral judgments, but getting covid, let alone dying from it, is, or was, seen as a moral judgment.
It's a key part of the politicization of public health.
Tangential to what you're saying but nagging at my brain is NYC's curiously low number of drug overdose deaths in spring 2020, including among the age group most likely to die from drug ODs...

Yes, great point.

Working hard to make NYC number one for taxpayer funded scandal & abuse of office!
New Jersey would like a word...
